THE MINISTRY OF GIVING

What Sound Will You Make?

This morning, we continue our three part series on “Giving”. According to God’s Word, giving is a privilege and an honor. In fact, giving to the Lord’s work is one of the greatest privileges we have in our Christian life, because it is a decision of our gratitude and trust in God.

Luke 6:38 states, “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you give, it will be measured back to you.”

This morning, I want to look into a passage of Scripture that tells the story of the widow’s offering. Pay attention to the sound of her offering and the reaction of Jesus to that sound. Also, I want to share the story of “the red crayon.” As we look into the stories of the widow and of the red crayon, I believe we will understand more clearly the ministry of giving.

Please enjoy this morning’s worship service. I know the music, our worship, and the message will be an inspiration to each of you. I am glad you are here and that we get to spend this morning together.

Encouraging One Another,

Pastor Mike

Key Scripture: Mark 12:41-44

The Widow’s Offering

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
