THE MANNER OF LIFE

This morning, we begin a new series on the book of Philippians.

This is such a wonderful book of warmth, wisdom, and encouragement.

Personally, this is my favorite book in the Bible.

It was written by Paul to friends part of a church in Philippi.

It was young, probably not more than 10 years in age, and was small in number. It was a church that was very stable and was dearly loved by Paul.

This is considered to be Paul’s last letter.

The key verse for this book is Philippians 1:27- “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” The word “manner” means behavior, conduct, and one’s walk.

All of who we are and how we act is in line with our relationship to Jesus Christ.

This study will impact your life in the Lord. It will also challenge you in regards to your church and the fellowship that makes up a church.

Together, we will experience and grow in our relationship with Jesus.

I pray this series and study of Philippians will encourage you in your faith and will have a tremendous impact on One Hope.

Please bring your Bible as we study this book together.

Encouraging One Another,

Pastor Mike

Philippians 1:1-11

1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,

To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons[a]:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joybecause of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
