To Live Is Christ
What does it mean to truly live? In Philippians 1:21, Paul gives us a profound answer: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Paul wrote those words while under house arrest, uncertain about what would happen to him. His dire circumstances could not rob him of his joy, his confidence, or his purpose. Paul had learned that when Christ is at the center of our lives, our circumstances do not have to determine our outlook.
Today, as we continue our journey through Philippians, we will look at Philippians 1:18–30 and consider what it means to make Christ the very center of our lives.
In a world with so many distractions, allow the Word of God to speak to your heart this morning and affirm that for the Christian, our purpose is eternal. If our lives are built around success, possessions, comfort, recognition, and temporary affairs, those things can change. But when Christ is our life, we have a foundation that cannot be shaken.
Paul’s circumstances were difficult, but his purpose was clear. He understood that if God allowed him to live that he would live for Christ but if he died that he would be with Christ which is far better.
My prayer for us is that we would embrace Philippians 1:21 in our own lives so that whether we live, die, or suffer; it is all to the glory of Christ!
In His Service,
Pastor Patrick
