The Gospel Goes Forward
Today, we celebrate Back to Church Sunday, an opportunity to remember that the church is not simply a building we visit, but a family we belong to and a mission we share.
As we highlight our One Hope ministries, I want to encourage each of us to consider where God may be calling us to serve. Every ministry matters. Every act of service matters. Every invitation, conversation, prayer, helping hand, and encouraging word can be used by God to make an eternal difference. We may not all serve in the same way, but we can all serve the same Lord.
Our church name “One Hope” reminds us that the hope we have in Jesus is not something we are meant to keep to ourselves. There are people in our community who need to experience the love of Christ, hear the good news of the Gospel, and discover the hope that can only be found in Him.
As we continue our sermon series in Philippians 1:12–18, Paul is writing from prison, yet he is not discouraged. Instead, he tells the Philippians that what happened to him actually served to advance the Gospel. His circumstances did not stop God’s mission. In fact, God used those very circumstances to open doors for the Gospel to go forward.
What encouragement for us today! We can sometimes look at our circumstances and wonder how God could possibly use them. But Philippians reminds us that God is not limited by our circumstances, our challenges, or our limitations. The Gospel keeps moving forward.
