Let earth receive her King
As we continue in this Christmas advent season, the powerful lyric “Let earth receive her King” calls us to reflect on what it truly means to accept Jesus as King in our own lives. The birth of Jesus in a humble manger marked the beginning of His first Advent—a time when the King of Kings entered our world in the most unexpected way. But this story is far from over. We now live between the two Advents: the first, when Jesus came as a baby, and the second, when He will return as a victorious King riding on a white horse.
In this in-between time, the question before each of us is this: Is Jesus the King of your life? Accepting Him as King means surrendering our own plans, priorities, and pride, and allowing His rule to shape every part of who we are. It means proclaiming, with all creation, that He alone is worthy of our trust, our worship, and our obedience. This Christmas, as we celebrate His birth and anticipate His return, may we live each day reflecting the light of hope, peace, and joy (first three candles of advent) that comes from receiving our King.
Please return this evening at 6 p.m. for our Carols and Cookies night. Also, I hope you will join us next Sunday (for one service only) at 10:30 a.m. as we blend the two styles of traditional and contemporary music in our annual Christmas music service.
