Joy to the World
This Christmas season, we will focus on the joy that came into the world on the very first Christmas morning as the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). This morning, we will reflect on the joy found in Mary’s song, the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).
As Mary responds to the angel’s announcement proclaimed in Luke 1:28-38, her heart overflows with praise: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-47). Despite the uncertainty of her circumstances, Mary trusted in God’s promises and rejoiced in His faithfulness.
Her song reminds us that true joy is not rooted in fleeting moments or worldly comforts but in the eternal hope we have in Christ.
This Christmas, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, may we echo Mary’s joy, marveling at God’s grace and goodness. Let us rejoice in the One who has come to bring salvation to the world!
