Choosing What Is Better
Today’s message, “Choosing What Is Better” from Luke 10:38–42, reminds us that while serving Jesus is important, sitting at His feet is essential. Like Martha, we often find ourselves busy, distracted, and worried about many things; especially during the holiday months of November and December. Yet Jesus gently calls us, as He did Martha, to slow down and focus on the one thing that truly matters—being in His presence and listening to His Word.
Mary chose what was better by sitting at the Lord’s feet, and Jesus said it would not be taken away from her. The same is true for us: the time we spend with Jesus—through prayer, worship, and His Word—builds a relationship that endures beyond the temporary busyness of life. When we make space to listen, He fills us with peace, perspective, and purpose.
As we go into this week, may we each make an intentional choice to draw near to Christ daily. Let’s not allow the noise of our schedules to drown out the voice of our Savior. Instead, may our hearts echo the desire of Mary—to simply sit at Jesus’ feet and receive all that He has for us. That is truly the better choice.
With love and blessings,
Pastor Patrick
