Authority Over Darkness
This morning we turn to Luke 11:14-23, where Jesus heals a mute man, demonstrating His divine authority over both the physical and spiritual realms. However, some of the Pharisees are not as amazed as were many of the onlookers in the crowd. The Pharisees who should have recognized Jesus’ Divine power and authority as the finger of God working to dismantle physical and spiritual darkness instead accuse Him of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub, the prince of demons.
Jesus responds with wisdom, showing that a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. This teaches us that God’s power is supreme and no evil can stand against His omnipotent and sovereign authority. It also challenges us to align our hearts with God’s work. As Jesus draws a line of demarcation between good and evil (Jesus or Beelzebub), He allows people to choose a side. Choose to be on the side of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and make it part of your life mission to encourage others to do the same.
