At The Cross: Good Friday
On this solemn day, we remember the depth of Jesus’ love as He carried our burden and sins to the cross. In Luke 23:26–49, we witness the suffering Savior—beaten, mocked, crucified—yet full of mercy. He forgives His enemies, welcomes a repentant thief into paradise, and entrusts His spirit to the Father. As the sky darkens and the veil is torn, a centurion declares what many now see: “Surely this was a righteous man.” Jesus was not just a righteous man but He was also very nature God (Philippians 2:6; Colossians 2:9)
Today, may we pause in awe of Christ’s sacrifice and find hope in the truth that through His death, our sins are forgiven and eternal life is made possible.
As we leave this evening, we will reflect on the Lord’s death as we share the Lord’s Supper together. The bread represents His broken body and the grape juice represents His shed blood. He instructed His disciples in Luke 22:19-20 to do this in remembrance of Him. This evening, we will leave quietly and reverently pondering the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross as we share the Lord’s Supper together and do so in remembrance of Him.
In Remembrance of Him,
Pastor Patrick
